O antiphons

The Magnificat antiphons leading up to Christmas all begin with the word "O". Since the Council of Trent they have been appointed for Dec. 17-23:
- O Sapientia (Advent antiphon 1)
- O Adonai (Advent antiphon 2)
- O Radix Jesse (Advent antiphon 3)
- O Clavis David (Advent antiphon 4)
- O Oriens splendor
- O rex gentium (Advent antiphon 6)
- O Emmanuel (Advent antiphon 7)
In older uses (Paris had 12 antiphons instead of 7) some additional texts are encountered:
- O Virgo virginum
- O Gabriel, nuntius cœlorum
- O Thoma Didyme
- O Rex pacifice
- O Mundi Domina
- O Hierusalem
- O sancte sanctorum
- O pastor Israel
