English text
Winter’s cruel reign is over,
Vernal airs blow soft again;
Blackbird, skylark, thrush and plover,
Join and swell this merry strain.
Messengers of spring are flying,
Far from regions o’er the sea;
Voice to voice the welcome crying,
Raise the song of tuneful glee.
Sheep and kins their stalls forsaking,
Snuff with joy the breath of spring;
While the voice of joy awaking
Makes the echoing woodlands ring.
