Welcome

Welcome to CPDL! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun! Claude (talk) 21:07, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Title of Raselius Sprüche

Hello Monika! The titles you gave for the Sprüche aus den Evangeliis are not the titles of the works themselves, they are the (Latin) names of the feasts those pieces are assigned to. So they are misleading, because one may not know what kind of liturgical music they are just by the titles. I think it would be better to use the first line of the text itself as title. I am transcripting the pieces from the named source and there are these titles given. Claude T is adding the section "Original text and translations", so it may be possible to find the pieces according to the text. It might be necessary to take a look at the original manuscripts by Raselius himself to find out how he had titled the pieces, but I don't know where they are kept. All these pieces are part of a collection of motets for all the sundays throughout the year, and the titles indicate this. For these reasons I do not want to change it. A belated welcome and congratulations on your editions! The precedent is indeed to use incipits instead of Feast titles for single movements (as for Choralis Constantinus (Heinrich Isaac)) and Feasts for multi-movement plenary masses like Purificationis Mariæ - Proprium (Anonymous). On your work pages one can see the incipit at the bottom, but where the Feast titles get a bit confusing is on the composer page. You might consider making a publication page like Offertoria totius anni (Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina) or even hand-formatting a section of Andreas Raselius; for an example see Heinrich Schütz. Natalis Christi (Andreas Raselius)

Welcome to CPDL, Monika! And many thanks for your score contributions, which are most welcome additions, indeed. A user at the CPDL forums has posted (and I have checked it) that there seems to be a transcription error in the bass part of Natalis Christi (Andreas Raselius). Apparently, most (if not all?) has been notated a third lower than what it should be. Ordinarily, I wuuld add a ScoreError template, but since it's clear you are active and will see this, I'll just let you handle making the correction. Again, thank you SO MUCH for your scores. -- Chucktalk Giffen 03:08, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Oops, I've forgot to switch it to the correct clef! I'll do it later this day. Monika Feinen (talk) 07:25, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
