Acqua mondana irata io come scoglio

English.png English translation

When the troubled sea rises and surrounds
a solid rock with impetuosity and fury,
if it finds the rock firm, the sea’s stormy pride
breaks and the wave falls in itself.

Similarly, when the deep, worldly, angry water
Crushes down on me and I stand like a rock,
my eyes fixed on the sky; the more I strip it
of its power, the more abundant it becomes.

And if sometimes the boat of desire
wants to wage a new war, I run to shore
and with a cord of love, wound with faith,

I tie it to the One in whom I trust most:
the living rock Jesus; so that, whenever I want,
I can pull the boat back to port at any time.
