French text Or, vray Dieu, qu'il est ennuyeux Celluy qui a perdu s’amye! J'en ai une longtemps aymé que j'ai perdue par ennuye. Je suis en grand mélancolye, à peu comme désespéré, Il vous souvien’ de vostr’amye qui a esté longtemps passée. Modern French Or, vrai Dieu, qu'il est dans les ennuis celui qui a perdu son amie! J'en ai aimé longtemps une que j'ai perdue par ennui. Je suis en grande mélancolie, un peu désespéré, car je ne me souviens de votre amie qui est passée, il y a longtemps.

English translation Dear God, how tedious is he Who has gone and lost his coquette! I loved one a long time, you know, But I lost her – why, I forget.
