Biography

James Yorkston is identified as being from Edinburgh, Scotland. No definitive information has currently been found about him, although he was active as music composer, arranger, and editor in nineteenth century Edinburgh. He published many arrangements of folk-songs, including part-song arrangements for Henry A. Lambeth’s Balmoral Choir, and was credited as composer of the famous song “Molly Malone” in the 1884 publication by Francis Brothers and Day in London.
