Latin text Doleo super te, Absolon, fili mi amabilis super amorem mulierum, sicut mater unicum amat filium ita te diligebam.

German translation Ich empfinde Schmerz über dich, Abschalom, mein Sohn, liebenswerter als die Liebe der Frauen; wie eine Mutter ihren einzigen Sohn liebt, so liebte ich dich.

English translation I mourn for you, Absalon, my son, beloved above the love of women, I loved you as a mother loves her only son.
