Dignare me laudare te

General information

A versicle (℣) and response (℟) which were typically appended to the Marian antiphon Ave Regina caelorum, usually following the office of Compline as dictated by the Roman Breviary. As part of the reforms of the Second Vatican Council in 1969, Dignare me and the prayer which followed it were scrapped.

Latin text Dignare me laudare te, O Iesu Christe, [Virgo sacrata] da mihi virtutem contra hostes tuos. Gombert adds the following verse: O Regina poli, mater gratissima proli, spernere me noli, me commendo tibi soli.

German translation Würdige mich, dich zu loben, O Jesus Christus, gib mir Kraft gegen deine Feinde. English translation Let me praise thee, Jesus Christ, [consecrated Virgin] Give me strength against thine enemies.
