Description: A book of sacred songs for 3 up to 8 voices by diverse German authors of the late Renaissance and Early Baroque, for the use in schools. Third part, containing funeral songs.

Full title: Cantionale Sacrum, Das ist, Geistliche Lieder, von Christlichen und Trostreichen Texten, Mit 3. 4. 5. oder mehr Stimmen unterschiedlicher Autorum : Für die Fürstliche Land- und andere Schulen im Fürstenthumb Gotha, Auff gnädige Fürstl. Verordnung in dieses bequeme Format zusammen gebracht, Und gedruckt zu Gotha im Jahr 1646. Durch Johan Michael Schalln; Dritter Theil, Welcher in sich hält solche Gesänge, die bey Christlichen Leichbestattungen tröstlich können gebrauchet werden, auch guten theils allbereit im Brauch sind.

Description: The third of three volumes of chorales and hymns, compiled by V.D. Marold. This volume contains works suitable for funerals, including sections for the funeral of a child and in the event of epidemics. A section in the index lists those works from volumes one and two that would also be suitable for a funeral. The works in this volume are for four or five voices, for the most part, with one setting for six voices and one chant for solo or unison voices.
