English text
Awake! Awake! for the Spring has come,
Lift up your voices in joy,
Raise loud your song, for life is young,
And the birds with the blossoms toy.
The streamlets run as if mad with fun,
Through meadows, oh so green,
All nature’s gay the live-long day!
At the thought of the Summer’s Queen!
Where are the frosts, the winds, the snow,
The winter, oh so drear?
They are gone for a time, to another clime,
To let young Spring us cheer!
