English text
1 Lady, rise! sweet morn's awaking,
And the early lark's on high,
Nature fair, her couch forsaking,
Bids blind night a day's goodbye!
Bright as joyous skies above me,
Is one sunny glance from thee;
Ope thy lattice if you love me,
Beam one tender smile on me!
2 Lady fair, thy slumber banish,
And thy jewell'd orbs disclose,
Ere the crystal dewdrops vanish
From the bluebell and wild rose,
I will shew thee where the turtle
Woos its mate in notes of glee,
If yon lattice, draped with myrtle,
Opes to shed one smile on me!
3 Lady fair, while sleep still lingers,
Nature's joys shall be my themes,
Music thrilled by throbbing fingers
Shall inspire thy glowing dreams.
Ah! I see now bright eyes gleaming,
Like twin planets, wild with glee,
From thy open lattice beaming
Smiles of gladness down on me.
