Description: This motet is about Lawrence who, because he dispersed
the treasures of his parish church to the poor to prevent them being looted, was burned at the stake (and later sainted). Aleotti makes the five parts function
antiphonally for much of the work by pairing two groups of three. She does this by having one of the
parts continue within the next group; all
five parts come together for the final phrase.
