Your editions

Hi Jonathan. I'm glad that you've managed to register with an account again and have started to update your editions. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. All the best --Bobnotts talk 17:18, 3 August 2007 (PDT)

Your question about the WIMA scores in an edit summary

Hi Jonathan. You asked a question about WIMA scores being added to CPDL in an edit summary. As far as I know, no-one adds the editions on CPDL unless they have contributed their edition to the WIMA then also added it to CPDL. It may be worth asking the question on the forums to see if anyone else has any insight. Regards --Bobnotts talk 06:46, 6 September 2007 (PDT)

Vostra Moglie

Hi Jonathan! Thanks for the revised edition with the more emphatic text underlay. I was checking the text again and a doubt arose whether "so" (Io non so...) should or not be accented. Unfortunately it does not take the accent, sorry for making you think the opposite! —Carlos Email.gif 22:34, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Oops

Thanks for catching my mistake in resetting the default sortkey for Garcia de Mendoza. Sorry about that! – Chucktalk Giffen 19:11, 24 November 2011 (CST)

Jgoodliffe

Hi Jonathan, if I may ask, is there any special reason for you to keep two active accounts, this one and Jgoodliffe? I've seen cases when someone forgot his/her password and created a new account with a different username, but you seem to be using both accounts simultaneously... For your information, we have a tool that allows us to merge two accounts into one, in case you decide to stick to just one of them. Regards, —Carlos Email.gif 01:04, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Carlos: No there is no reason for maintaining 2 accounts if they can be merged. I seem to remember that the second account was opened because there was a problem accessing the first. So please go ahead and merge. Thamks for the suggestion. Jgoodliffe 01:12, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Thanks for your prompt response. Which account would you like to keep, this (Jonathang) or the one you used in your reply to me? But please take this simply as a suggestion; keeping a single account makes things a bit simpler for us admins, besides the fact that you will rank higher in the statistics :) (Special:ContributionScores) —Carlos Email.gif 01:31, 2 August 2012 (CDT)
Yes please keep "Jonathang" . Thanks. Jgoodliffe 01:35, 2 August 2012 (CDT)
Done! Your other account Jgoodliffe was not deleted, just in case you need it again for an emergency in the future. Best, —Carlos Email.gif 02:10, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Ta bonne grace

Hi Jonathan, it's a pity that you have removed your edition; being from a different source, it would be interesting to keep it for comparison. A note could be added explaining the situation. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 12:21, 17 November 2012 (CST)

LinkText

Hi Jonathan, good news for you: I've changed {{LinkText}} to present the same functionality of {{LnkTxt}} (which is now deprecated). So, please only use LinkText from now on. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 19:11, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Psalms category

Hi Jonathan!

My knowledge of this topic is quite poor. May I ask you to talk with Richard Mix and James Gibb? They were mostly responsible for organizing the Sacred/Secular categories into what they are today, and will be able to help you with your request.

Kind regards, —Carlos (talk) 18:41, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

Nunc dimittis a 15 (Francisco Valls)

Hi Jonathan. From my reading of the score, the Valls Nunc is has 10 vocal parts and 5 instrumental parts (counting the continuo line as the fifth instrumental part). That the 'Ministriles' appears on the bass part might indeed signify that this part was possibly alternatively taken as instrumental, but with the part having text underlay, I think it was intended primarily as a vocal part. I'm changing the voicing to 10vv (since the A.TT.SST.SATB is precisely the specification of a 10 part voicing. It's an interesting work, and I'm glad you have published it here at CPDL. Best wishes and good health in this pandemic era. -- Chucktalk Giffen 05:10, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Dido & Aeneas

Hi Jonathan, Thanks for contributing to Dido and Aeneas, Z 626 (Henry Purcell); it is a work with an interesting/frustrating transmission history! Could you clarify whether the missing bits are from a new reconstruction, drawn from libretto stage directions, or purely hypothetical? Btw, I take the new placement of the overture to be just a slip:

Individual movements

1. Overture

1.1 Prologue (music lost)

Richard

There are two points to this. First to highlight that this is an incomplete work and to identify the gaps.
Secondly to encourage people to consider providing reconstructed versions of the gaps, as Margaret Laurie and Thurston Dart have done.
Apparently the prologue actually came before the overture in the original version.
I'll make some final alterations later today.

Odes to music

Hi Jonathan, I noticed your question to Claude about a category for Music, how powerful is thy charm (Maurice Greene). I don't know about Greene's circumstances, but we have Purcell's secular "odes" categorized in the sacred Category:St. Cecilia. "Odes to X" straddles a line between genre and subject matter, it seems to me, though a subject index might not be a bad idea. I'd suggest bringing it up at Category talk:Musical genres. Richard Mix (talk) 07:08, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks Richard, I have followed your suggestion. Jgoodliffe (talk) 10:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
