English text
The skies have turned from blue to gray,
The brooks have ceased to flow;
The sun grows laggard every day,
And winter winds do blow!
They toss the dead leaves here and there,
And vex the falling snow;
There is no comfort anywhere,
The winter winds do blow!
But in my cot the door is fast,
The back log is aglow;
Secure am I from icy blast,
And winter winds do blow!
