English text
O’er yon mountain of shadows how red glows the star!
By lone Glountane meadows that murmurs there are!
The seawind weeps o’er the forest and mere
Where gaunt wolves have morriced, but Huntsmen are here!
Farra ho! Farra ho! for a fighting foe,
Thro’ the aisles of Iveráha a-hunting we go!
“Rising out, rising out, from the summit to shore”—
’Tis the call of our Chieftain, O’Sullivan Mòr!
O’er yon ocean of silence how bright sinks the day!
Up far Skelig Islands how white leaps the spray!
The wind laughs where the banisht ships run,
The gasht wolves have vanisht, The Huntsmen have won!
Farra ho! farra ho! for a flying foe,
Throng the aisles of Iveráha in triumph we go:
Flashing out flame the bonfires from summit to shore,
Like our hearts round our Chieftain, O’Sullivan Mòr.
