Biography

He studied organ at the Conservatories in Berlin and Leipzig. From 1906–1909 he served as the choir conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic. From 1906 to 1924 he was a professor of organ playing at the Institute of Music in Warsaw, and from 1909 he taught counterpoint. His most famous work is Improvisations on the theme of the Polish church song "Święty Boże" op. 38. He is the brother of the composers Stefan and Jozef Surzinski.
