Italian text   Io procaccio martir per poter poi   Tutti li giorni mei viverm' in doglia,   Quando si come credo vedro che voi,   non cacciate dal cor l'usata doglia   Assai fia che di me si dica i suoi bei desir dunque fanno   ch'ei si doglia,   Che pena s'ha dal mal poi che dal bene   Vien merced' a costui d'eterne pene.

English translation  I seek martyrdom to live  all my days in pain,  When, as I believe, I shall see that you,  Chase not from your heart this use of grief.  It shall be said of me: His beautiful desires,  to grieve,  (sorrow comes from evil, comes from good)  did bring him the merit of eternal pain.
