English text
Far away, far away from every pleasure,
Bent beneath a cruel chain,
To enhance a tyrant’s treasure,
Slaves must still their toil maintain.
Far from each bright scene of home,
Where in youth they loved to roam,
Gliding o’er the silver @lood,
Or wandering through the tangled wood.
