Deh, lascia, Filli, i fiori,
che cogli per Damon,
tuo infid’ amante,
Che sotto à queste piante
Con Dafne ride de tuoi folli ardori;
ed io, che sol t’adoro,
vedrai, disse Fillen,
ch’io per te moro.

German translation

Ach, lass, Phyllis, die Blumen,
die du für Damon pflückst,
deinen untreuen Geliebten,
der unter diesen Pflanzen
mit Dafne über deine verrückte Leidenschaft lacht;
und ich, der nur dich anbetet,
du wirst sehen, sprach Filleno,
dass ich für dich sterbe.
