Italian.png Italian text

Chi mira gl’occhi tuoi
Et non sospira poi,
Credo che non sia vivo
o di giudicio privo.

Perché n’escono i rai
non visti altrove mai,
Che fanno l’huom morire
Senza dolor sentire.

Et s’avien ch’egli mora
Ne la medesma hora:
Con la beltà infinita
Voi lo tornate in vita.

Miracoli d’Amore,
Che fa che a tutte l’hore
Con disusata sorte
Gustiamo vita et morte.

German.png German translation

dWer deine Augen anschaut
und dann nicht seufzt,
der, glaube ich, ist nicht lebendig
oder seines Urteils beraubt.

Denn daraus gehen Blicke aus,
die niemals anderswo gesehen wurden,
die einen sterben lassen,
ohne Schmerz zu verspüren.

Und wenn es geschieht, dass jener stirbt
zur gleichen Stunde,
bringt mit der unendlichen Schönheit
ihn ins Leben zurück.

Wunder Amors,
der jederzeit macht,
dass auf ungewohnte Art
wir Leben und Tod genießen.

Translation by Gerhard Weydt
English.png English translation

He who looks into your eyes
and does not sigh,
is, I believe, not alive
or bereft of his judgement.

For from them run out glances
never seen elsewhere,
that make one die
without feeling any pain.

And if it so happens that he die
at the same hour,
then with infinite beauty
you bring him back to life.

Miracle of Love,
who at all times makes
that we may in an unusual way
enjoy life and death.
