Torquato Tasso wrote a riposta and contrariposta for Guarini's famous poem, some composers set all three to music. Monte instead uses a different text for the third part.

Potrà Amanti sdegnosi
Far sì che d’amorosi
Fochi non v’ard’Amore,
Che s’è ghiaccio la lingua e fiamma il core,

Weder Hitze noch Kälte
können je zornige Liebende
so erscheinen lassen, als ob mit
Liebesfeuer euch entzündete Amor,
denn wenn die Zunge Eis ist und das Herz Flamme,
