English text
Alas, my Daphne, stay but and hear my moaning;
Oh stay,or I faint with groaning.
Nay, you run away as if you meant to leave me,
I'll set me down and die, if thus you grieve me.
Adieu, my Daphne, for ever,
I'll tell Apollo how cruel you persever.
But if you by returning do revive me,
I'll sing again of Daphne.
