Latin text
- Agatha laetissime et glorianter ibat ad carcerem,
- et quasi ad epulas invitata
- agonem suum Domino praecibus commendabat.
English translation
Translation supplied by Paul Pascal, Professor Emeritus of Classics, University of Washington
- Agatha most joyfully and gloriously went to a dungeon,
- and, as if she were invited to a sumptuous feast,
- she commended her suffering to the Lord with prayers.
