Life

Born:

Died: c.1518

Biography Little is known about Jacotin Frontin, who was active in Italy at the end of the 15th century, possibly in the service of Ercole I d'Este, Duke of Ferrara and Modena. By 1514 he had been at the court of cardinal Louis d'Aragon for some time. Around 1518 he may have been active at the Basilica della Santa Casa in Loreto, Italy. Compositions appearing in Italy in the 16th century attributed to "Jacotin" could be composed by any of four composers with similar names. Those most likely by Jacotin Frontin were praised in their time "for their admirable ease, sweetness, and vocal plenitude" (Grove Music Online).
