Italian text Ahi, che non pur risponde! Ahi, che piu d'aspe è sord' a miei lamenti! O nembi, o turbi, o venti sommergetelo voi dentro a quell' onde! Correte, orchi e balene, e de le membra immonde empiete le voragini profonde! Che parlo, ahi, che vaneggio? Misera, ohime! che chieggio? O Teseo, o Teseo mio, non son quell' io che i feri detti sciolse, parlò l'affanno mio, parlò il dolore, parlò la lingua, sì, ma non gia il core.

German translation Übersetzung: Markus Goecke Ach, daß er nicht antwortet! Ach, wie mehr als die Natter ist er taub zu meinen Klagen! Oh Stürme, oh Wirbel, oh Winde, ertränkt ihn in diesen Wogen! Eilt, Ungeheuer und Wale und füllt mit den unreinen Gliedern die tiefen Schlünde! Was rede ich da? Ach, welche Verwirrung, ich Arme! Was verlange ich? Oh Theseus, mein Theseus, ich bin nicht selbst jene, die die wilden Worte schleuderte: Es sprach mein Leid, es sprach mein Schmerz, es sprach die Zunge, ja, doch nicht das Herz.
