Heu quantus dolor et turbatis anxia cura
 mentibus est tacitas, occuluisse faces,
mors optanda magis quod si sua funera passis,
 nullus ab occulto restat amore dolor.

Alas, how great the pain and how many the distressing hardships
for troubled minds to have concealed torches of love unspoken!
Death is more to be hoped for since for those who have suffered their own demise
no pain from secret love remains.
