== Add New Work form – Instruments ==

See [[User_talk:Esperanto41]]. Esperanto41 20:34, 8 January 2013
Hi Carlos, A few minutes ago I used the Add New Work form to create [[Sharon (James P. Carrell)]]. Since it is an ''a cappella'' work, I entered that in the Instruments blank. But when I got to the page, there was an error message across the top, about a missing ) in a Multireplace.php program. The page was created correctly, except Instruments was blank. I tried inserting ''A cappella'' in the Instruments template, but it didn't work, I got the same message. I managed to get around it by typing <tt><noWiki>'''Instruments:'''{{Acap}}</noWiki></tt>, which gave the same result, it appears (the page was added to Category:A cappella). By the way, I looked at Template:Instruments and noticed that it was editable by me; it should be protected, right? (I did not edit it). Anyway, I thought you should know that this happened. Best to you — [[User:Bcjohnston523|Barry Johnston]] [[User talk:Bcjohnston523|(talk)]] 04:52, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
:Hi Barry, thanks for informing me of this. The problem with [[template: Instruments]] seems to be gone, it was just a test by Richard Mix that didn't work out as expected. Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[User talk:Carlos|(talk)]] 17:50, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

== Monteverdi Magnificat Secondo edition ==

Carlos, a rather belated thank you for pointing out {{tl|Top}}, {{tl|Middle}} and {{tl|Bottom}}. Infinitely easier than the code, which I could never remember! I've taken on inserting it whenever I come upon a table in the old format, since I'm sure others will find it as useful as I do when they spot it.
Hi Carlos: After a long period of neglect, someone reminded me that my edition of the Monteverdi Magnificat Secondo is missing a verse. Its CPDL number is 26082.
[[User:Jamesgibb|Jamesgibb]] ([[User talk:Jamesgibb|talk]]) 16:13, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
I have tried today to upload a complete version--but each time I've tried, the result is still incomplete--on CPDL, that is, but not on my computer.
The initial correct upload is

:Your're welcome! That reminded me that I need to add some documentation to these templates, will do it now :) Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] ([[User talk:Carlos|talk]]) 16:43, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
What might I be doing wrong?

== Translate extension ==
Thanks.

Hello, I see that this is a multilingual wiki.
David Cameron [[User:David Cameron|David Cameron]] ([[User talk:David Cameron|talk]]) 19:43, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Have you considered using the [[Wikipedia:mw:Extension:Translate|Translate extension]], which allows to easily make your MediaWiki multilingual? It makes you save enormous amounts of time which otherwise is wasted on templates wizardry, manual synchronisation of pages and so on, scarying off most translators; and offers many other aid to efficient translation.
Now it's also available in handy [[Wikipedia:mw:MediaWiki Language Extension Bundle|tarball bundles]].
The page explains how to get help and more information, and there is extensive documentation; asking on #mediawiki-i18n @ freenode is probably your best chance for immediate assistance if needed.

Hi Carlos, I got an error message after creating {{CC|St. Peter's Chains}} and for the moment have temporarily renamed it. Is there a workaround? [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] ([[User talk:Richard Mix|talk]]) 23:03, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

::I wasn't too clear: when I created {{CC|St. Peter's Chains}} that page looked OK but  Category:Sacred music by by season wouldn't load. ::If you move back {{CC|Chains of St. Peter}} or else put back the Cat:Sacred by season on  {{CC|St. Peter's Chains}} you may be able to see what I mean. == Bug in template PostedOn ==

:Done! —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] ([[User talk:Carlos|talk]]) 14:58, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi Carlos.  I think your 'localizing' the month changes to PostedOn have resulted in an error. Today (October 26th), PostedOn lists my score [[A Hymn for St Cecilia (Charles H. Giffen)]], but the score was posted on September 26th, not October 26th.  The problem is that I also posted editions for the instrumental parts on October 1st, and that seems to have fooled the template PostedOn, which looks at the posting day (26) for one edition and the month (10) for another edition and decides that a score was posted on 10-26.  I only noticed this because today my work is listed at the beginning of the works posted for today (2018-10-26), since it is first alphabetically.  Here is the result of <nowiki>{{PostedOn|2018-10-26}}</nowiki> (which will probably only be valid for today (or perhaps until the end of the month?).
*{{tl|PostedOn|2018-10-26}}
I'm hesitant to revert your changes, since I'm busy enough today that I won't have time to test any reversion.  Could you check into the problem? Thanks. See you Sunday for the Board meeting!! -- [[User:CHGiffen|Chuck]][[User talk:CHGiffen|<small>'''talk'''</small>]]&nbsp;[[User:Charles H. Giffen|Giffen]][[Charles H. Giffen|'''♫''']] 15:47, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
:Hi Chuck. You're right, the template tests for the day and the month separately, as far as I can remember. That could potentially give the results you cite, in that very specific situation. There's certainly room for improvement! I'll have a look at it as soon as I can, but feel free to make any corrections if you already envision a solution for it. Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[User talk:Carlos|(talk)]] 17:23, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
::Hi again. I've implemented a new system that seems to be working correctly. Thanks for spotting the error! —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[User talk:Carlos|(talk)]] 14:49, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

== New Swedish composer ==
== Statistics of downloads of contributed works ==

Helo Carlos
Dear Carlos,

You have helped me before. I want to add scores of a Swedish composer that is not in the composers list. His name is [[Knut Håkanson]].
I was wondering if it were possible for me to see some statistics (downloads etc) of my contributions? I get the occasional question from a user who took the effort to find my contact, but that doesn't give much information.

== Thanks and update to Batten work ==
== Status 'incompleted' ==

Carlos -- thanks for your note welcoming me back to Choral Wiki!  It prompted me to look and see what was the first thing I uploaded.  Then I noticed my correction for Batten's "Haste Thee, O God" was in a hard-to-use format.  These days I can easily make a PDF, so I did that and uploaded it.  That also spells the composer's name correctly!  I think I entered the information properly to create a new edition and I separately uploaded the PDF under the same name.  But you or another editor will probably need to review and make sure everything is correct.  Cheers, chris [[User:Christopherjhoh|Christopherjhoh]] ([[User talk:Christopherjhoh|talk]]) 13:46, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi Carlos,

== Thou Knowest, Lord, the Secrets of Our Hearts, Z.58b ==

Hello Carlos, yes, you are right: I (christoph Lahme) am the Editor. Z.58b is not the 'opus-number' for all of those settings of "Thou knowest", but only for that revised first setting I contributed. Moreover it's part of the Funeral Sentences (1672, 1677), but not composed for the funeral of Queen Mary. Thanks.--[[User:Christophero Manco|Christophero Manco]] ([[User talk:Christophero Manco|talk]]) 22:28, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

== Jean Gilles Requiem ==

Hello Carlos,

Thanks for your welcome,
as you know i am new as cpdl user,
and slowly learning howto etc.

The Jean Gilles Requiem is found on a french website,
but it was very hard to trace and i can't find the original location anymore.
Also googling ( by three separate persons ) did not give results.

The cpdl is much used by me as i am making rehearsal files
for several choires i participate.
Now I am unemployed and have some sparetime to upload
a number of midi files I created the last years.

I will try to update my personal page,
it seems that my previous attempt was not OK.

with regards,
Roel

You will see that I have jazzed up this page, adding a bit of 17th century glamour. I have also uploaded images of Morales and Juana Ines de la Cruz (they are both public domain). Feel free to do any tidying up you think is appropriate (e.g. dividing the list of composers into columns - I could not work out how to do this).

Dear Carlos, I have just founded a new page for Uherek Milan, but I did something wrong, because first name is Milan and I cannot repair it now. Could you please help me? Thanks, Jan Pallas

Hi Jan, his name was corrected. Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] ([[User talk:Carlos|talk]]) 23:42, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Well, that was fast!!! Thank you very much, I will be more cautious next time. Jan

Hi, Carlos, I'll try. There are folksongs most in Moravia and Slovakia, which cannot be arranged too much modern. And Mr. Uherek was from Moravia and he felt how they should be sung and therefore he made them in somewhat simple harmony, but what is most important for these songs is agogics. And that cannot be heard from computer-made MIDI. Maybe some of Moravian or Slovak songs could be found on youtube. I am not much good in English, hope you understand me. Best regards, Jan

==Incorrect composer attribution==
Hello!  I commented in the talk page of a misattributed work several months ago on fixing the issue, but it seems to have been lost in the crowd.  Would you mind taking a look at it?  [[Talk:Da bei rami scendea (Jacques Arcadelt)|Link here]]. Thanks!  [[User:Wboyle|Wboyle]] ([[User talk:Wboyle|talk]]) 05:44, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

:Hi Walker, thanks for pointing me to that page. The misattribution is confirmed by the Grove Dictionary. I've made the necessary changes. —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] ([[User talk:Carlos|talk]]) 14:19, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

== Redirects ==

Sorry about that, Carlos. I have been assuming (wrongly) that the only page likely to link was the composer page, where I've been bypassing the redirect page fairly consistently, I think. In future, I'll do a proper check on "What links here" (which I had failed to spot!) and make any other changes necessary. I'm really just doing it for tidyness, but if you think that there are potential risks involved that I'm unaware of, let me know.

By the way, I think the solution you came up with for Pange lingua/Tantum ergo was elegant and should satisfy everyone. (Perhaps that's a forlorn hope!)

== Vivo ego dicit Dominus (Ludwig Senfl) ==

Carlos, there appear to be two separate editions of this, one with Vivi for Vivo, but both with the same number. I've tried tidying it, but seem to be making a mess of it, since what I expected to happen when I moved a page, didn't happen! Much safer therefore for me to leave it to the experts. (I've inadvertently created a page called Vivi ego dicit Dominus temp (Ludwig Senfl) but haven't deleted it, lest I make matters worse!

Thanks very much for completing the English translation of Veni sponsa Christi, by the way. I got interrupted halfway through and, by the time I got back to it, you had  already done it.
[[User:Jamesgibb|Jamesgibb]] ([[User talk:Jamesgibb|talk]]) 11:30, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

:Hi James, thanks for catching this; the "Vivi" page was indeed a duplicate of the other one, so I deleted it. Usually I keep the older page, but these two were posted only two days apart, and the one with the correct title was also more complete, so it was kept. If you tried to rename ''Vivi ego dicit Dominus'' to ''Vivo ego dicit Dominus'', you probably saw a warning message informing that the page with the new title already existed, and asking if it should be deleted first. This is usually done only when we wish to merge both page histories, otherwise it's better not to continue :) Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] ([[User talk:Carlos|talk]]) 16:11, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

== O magnum mysterium - Pedro de Cristo ==

Brian Marble has contacted me about his recently uploaded edition, where the file links don't work. I've checked whether the files have actually been uploaded, and they have and the names on the Works page look correct. I suspect that he had made an error while creating the edition page and hasn't copied across the file locations correctly.

It's probably simple to correct, but I can't see a way to do it without creating a new edition page, which is obviously to be avoided. Any suggestions as to how to repair the links, Carlos?

How do I go about removing it and uploading a fixed version (and if possible without having it display that 'withdrawn at the request of the editor' message)?

1. Sorry about {{tl|Text}}. I'll make sure to handle it correctly in future. But what does it do, since I've not seen it before?<br>
2. Alessandro Scarlatti - much improved. Wish I'd thought of it myself!<br>
3. I've been careful to check ''what links here'' before deleting any redundant pages. However, I've noticed that some links remain (e.g. Editions 205xx) even though, when I check them, the updated file(page) name is displayed, rather than that of the one I am considering deleting. (I don't delete in those circumstances. Is it because the pages concerned don't take account of redirects automatically?<br>
[[User:Jamesgibb|Jamesgibb]] ([[User talk:Jamesgibb|talk]]) 09:34, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

# No problem! Besides adding a header to the text (with a banner when available) the Text template is useful to inform us that that page actually contains text in that language. Pages with {{tl|Text|English}} will be categorized in {{CiteCat|English texts}}, and so on. There is a maintenance page [[ChoralWiki:Score pages without Text templates]] that lists works lacking one of the appropriate Text templates.
# Thanks; that layout may be kept for a while, until one of the columns becomes too large.
# You're right: most of the ChoralWiki:xxxx pages that continue linking to moved pages are in fact dynamic pages that have not updated themselves yet; it takes a couple of hours sometimes. You don't need to worry with these links and may delete the redirect.

== La la maître Pierre ==
Hi Carlos, I've added a "misattributed" to Susato's [[La la Maistre Pierre (Tielman Susato)|Maistre Pierre]].  Is it possible you mistook the mention "Susato" as meaning the composer, while Sabine just intended it as a mention of the editor?  I've got the facsimile of the 11th book here, and it clearly states Jacob Clemens non Papa as a composer.  If so, could you merge both pages?  Cordially, [[User:Jkelecom|Jkelecom]] ([[User talk:Jkelecom|talk]]) 10:39, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

:Hi Joachim, it was Bobnotts who renamed that page, probably misled by the editor information added by Sabine in her edition (as you correctly noted). The attribution was corrected and the works merged in the original page. Please note that the title with the original  spelling "Piere" is widely unknown, returning only a handful of results in Google [http://www.google.com.br/search?q=%22La+la+Maistre+Piere%22]; that's why the modern spelling was chosen instead. Thanks for catching Category:Requests Available at IMSLP! To answer [http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Request:Christmas_Oratorio_(Camille_Saint-Saëns)&curid=19695&diff=1248477&oldid=1248437 this question], The Oratorio is available only in excerpts on CPDL, but complete at IMSLP. In decluttering Category:Requested, I've hesitated in some cases where it seems desirable to me to have the complete work available in the future, or where I myself might prefer a different format. [[User:Wverkaik|Wverkaik]] ([[User talk:Wverkaik|talk]]) 09:47, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
:Hi Richard! I noticed that you've been doing a great work in sorting out the requests, way to go! Regarding the ''completeness'' of a request, I'm of the opinion that it's 'complete' whenever a page for that work is created on CPDL. If for any reason the editions available here do not cover the whole of the request and IMSLP has a complete edition, that could be informed at the works page, with a link under the "External links" section. This way we'll be helping anyone visiting the works page, not just someone eventually consulting the request page. Regards, —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[User talk:Carlos|(talk)]] 01:24, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
::Fair enough as a traffic directing strategy; how would one have dealt with [[Request:Agnus Dei from Missa L'homme armé (Guillaume Dufay)]]? I guess I've used Template:IncompleteEdition before as a sort of request on my own behalf, but no one has ever taken the hint ;-) [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] ([[User talk:Richard Mix|talk]]) 01:49, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
:::Does IMSLP have the complete work? If so, a link to it could be added at the works page. Additionally, a note can be added at the request page informing this. Anyway, three movements is already better than nothing :) (thanks for the new edition, BTW!) —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[User talk:Carlos|(talk)]] 02:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

== Correcting CPDL #30003 and/or #30004 ==
== Internet links within Template braces ==

Carlos, I write to ask for assistance on my CPDL page to correct
Hi Carlos!  I am working though a lot of work pages, and along the way trying to update  <tt><nowiki>'''External websites:''' <text></nowiki></tt>  to  {{tl|ExtWeb|<text>}}. I find that I am unable to embed certain urls within the braces; neither can I embed thinks like <tt><nowiki>{{IMSLP2|<IMSPL page>}}</nowiki></tt>. I can't seem to find a character that would cause a problem, but I haven't yet checked all strings of characters. I have discovered that I can put the url within <u>double</u> brackets (<nowiki>[[<url>]]</nowiki>) as a workaround, but that seems like a lot of work, and looks strange. Examples at [[Ach Gott, wem soll ichs klagen (Wolfgang Grefinger)]] and [[Ala guerra, ala guerra (Bartolomeo Tromboncino)]]. Do you have any suggestions?
#30003 'All That I Ask' (string accompaniment).

#30003 & 30004--each of which is basically the same.
The upshot is this--the link to the pdf of the score is dead or broken. How
may I resolve this?
Thank you for your assistance again.

:Hi Barry! I'm still trying to figure out what's the advantage of using this new template. As I understood it, it just encapsulates the text that is passed as parameter (in this case, one or more links). But why should we abandon a template such as IMSLP2, for instance, in favor of ExtWeb, as was done [https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Ach_Gott,_wem_soll_ichs_klagen_(Wolfgang_Grefinger)&diff=1340040&oldid=1268264 here]? Sorry for asking, maybe you're planning some kind of automation that I'm not aware of, and this is just the first step of the process.
:Regarding the technical problem you cite, the solution is simple, although not very elegant: if a parameter contains an equal sign, it causes the MediaWiki to think that everything before the = is a named parameter. To avoid it, we have to add ourselves a numbered parameter, as I did [https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Ach_Gott,_wem_soll_ichs_klagen_(Wolfgang_Grefinger)&diff=1340205&oldid=1340040 here] by adding {{para|1}}. The <code>&lt;nowiki /></code> part corrects another known MediaWiki bug related to the display of bulleted lists inside templates. Hi Carlos,
Hi Carlos,

I was contacted by the manager of a composer whose work I uploaded here.
Just wanting to confirm that [[Ma bouche rit (Johannes Ockeghem)]] is a withdrawn edition, File:Ma bouche rit.pdf being a somewhat ambiguous filename which seems not to have been replaced. Cheers, [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] ([[User talk:Richard Mix|talk]]) 21:26, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Would you please delete this file. I have tried to do it myself, with no avail. I actually didn't mean to upload it. It was one of my first attempts to upload something on CPDL. My choir got a license to his work, but he obviously didn't want it to go public. The composer objected upon the upload. He wanted it to be deleted.

Thank you.

== Sortable tables ==
Hi Carlos: I'm afraid that I have botched something somewhere, though maybe with the help of a technical glitch.

Dear Carlos,
Yesterday (19 July 2021) I tried to add a new score ("Blow, winds of God") to my list. I opened up the Add Work Form, made some of the preliminary entries, and moved to upload (1) a pdf file ("Blow, winds of God.pdf") and (2) a Finale file ("Blow, winds of God.musX"). I then returned to the Add Work Form, completed it and submitted it.

3 questions; I hope easy ones! 1) I started making a table at [[Souterliedekens]] and am puzzled by the behaviour of the incipit field: it lists them in reverse numerical order on the first click, only alphabetizing on the second click. 2) Are the slashes (Psalm 140/141) in the red-linked titles a potential problem? Nested parentheses seem less elegant... 3) how are piped Ps. No.'s handled?  Tia! [[User:Richard Mix|Richard Mix]] ([[User talk:Richard Mix|talk]]) 05:14, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
At once I received two error messages, first the old one which claims that <charles.david.cameron@gmail.com> isn't a valid address, adding this time that my name was wrong too; and then a message that the system had stalled, and might be available later. I copied this material and sent it to all of you admins, as you know.

:Hi Richard!
Today I can't find anything from yesterday; no uploads, no incomplete Add Work Form, not even my report (I suspect that I'm looking in the wrong place).
# That's strange... for me it seems to work correctly ''on the first click''. If I click on a column for the second time, even if another column has been clicked in between, it then sorts the column in the opposite order. I guess this is standard behaviour.
How much you admins. must shudder at the technical illiteracy of us computer users who don't understand anything under the hood--I'm sorry!
# I would suggest avoiding the slashes in title by keeping only the Vulgata number in it. If I'm not mistaken, that's usually how other works based on the Vulgata give this information in the title. Inside the page, the conversion is already made explicit in the Text & translations section, when {{tl|LinkText}} is used.
# To sort columns like this one, we have to resort to a trick: invisible texts are introduced before each visible text, and the sorting is done on the invisible texts. Template {{tl|hs}} is used for this effect.

::Thanks! 1. So strange I tried it several times over to be sure, but today it works as you describe instead. Settling time perhaps??? 2. A good idea 3. A choral director in Vermont has asked me if I can supply a translation one of the Musica Colonial scores, Nebra's "Rompan los vagos espacios" which he wants to perform. Obviously a translation is needed if it is to be performed in an Anglophone country. My Spanish isn't really up to this. These scores are often very obscure. Do you have any ideas? I realise of course that your native language is Portuguese, rather than Spanish.

== Yaroslav versus Yaroslavsky Chant ==

Hi Carlos.  I noticed that you have replaced "Yaroslavsky" with "Yaroslav" while referring to a particular form of Slavonic chant.  For the piece in question ("A mercy of peace...") the work is listed as: "Yaroslavsky Chant - for the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great - g (618 KB)"; moreover, in the PDF score itself the source is cited as "Yaroslaskago rospiva" (Ярославскаго распыва).  "Yaroslav" is a noun, while "Yaroslavsky" (while sometimes a noun) is an adjective form for "Yaroslav".  It's no different than the situation with "Gregory chant" or "Gregorian chant", or "Kiev chant" or "Kievan chant" (in both cases, the second form is correct).  Can you cite a reason for your change?  I'm totally mystified by this! &ndash; [[User:CHGiffen|Chuck]][[User talk:CHGiffen|<small>'''talk'''</small>]]&nbsp;[[User:Charles H. Giffen|Giffen]][[Charles H. Giffen|'''♫''']] 16:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

:Hi Chuck. I'm aware of the difference in meaning between the two terms; I made extensive searches for both expressions "Yaroslav[sky] chant", and references for both are extremely hard to find on the internet. The only site using "Yaroslavsky chant" is the one from where the CPDL score comes ([http://www.rocm.org/e_getmercy.htm]); all the other results on Google are in fact just references to this same work ([http://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%22Yaroslavsky+chant%22+-cpdl+-scorser+-primanota]). On the other side, "Yaroslav chant" is cited a couple more times on websites directly related to Russian Orthodox music ([http://music.russianorthodox-stl.org/music_liturgy.html] [http://www.stseraphim.org/choir.html] [http://www.podoben.org/mixed_liturgy.html]), and in a book digitized by Google ([http://books.google.com/books?id=faZlAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA171&lpg=PA171&source=bl&ots=I6hxJlIPA1&sig=DZQBuVY4uN2psMQCMNLG2wLRgQw&hl=pt-PT&sa=X&ei=TPc_VLn1B8_NggSU7ICoBg&ved=0CDcQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=%22Yaroslav%20chant%22&f=false]). So, mine wasn't a completely uninformed decision, even though I cannot affirm that the current form is the most correct one. Grove has no references to this kind of chant, maybe you could help to settle this issue if you happen to have books on this subject at hand. —[[User:Carlos|Carlos]] [[File:Email.gif|link=User talk:Carlos]] 17:22, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

:::Hi again, Barry. From what I could see, the [[Harpa de Sião: suplemento|supplement]] could very well be on the same page of the main publication. Note that this was done at [[IMSLP: Harpa de Sião (Lehmann, Padre João Baptista)]]. We could maybe create a new section and move the supplement under it, what do you think? Christ is risen! I would like to ask about the real Composer of tune "Pone luctum, sume vestem", if he is known? There are two persons with the same last name "Mohr", but with different first names: Joseph Franz and Joseph Hermann. Both of them are born after 1750, when probably the tune was composed and can't be a Composer of this tune. Joseph Franz Mohr was text author of some Hymns, but Joseph Hermann Mohr was known as composer of many Latin Hymns (tunes). In edited of Hermann Mohr "Cantiones Sacrae" in 1878 there is his arranged hymn "Pone luctum, sume vestem" under nr. 71 on the page 170 of downloadable PDF file: https://ia801605.us.archive.org/12/items/cantionessacrae00mohrgoog/cantionessacrae00mohrgoog.pdf That arrangement is different from the present edition of Rev. Abel Di Marco on CPDL page, where as Composer is indicated Joseph Franz Mohr. The same harmonization is on the page of "Cappella Gregoriana" of Rev. Abel Di Marco, but with alternative file: https://cappellagregoriana.files.wordpress.com/2018/04/pone-luctum.pdf , where is indicated a Composer J. B. C. Schmidts and arranger Joseph Hermann Mohr. However that version is different from Joseph Hermann Mohr's arrangement in "Cantiones Sacrae". To whom belong the harmonization, edited by Rev. Abel Di Marco?? Is it his proper harmonization? I think that it is a misattribution of Composer name to Joseph Franz Mohr, as we have indication of harmonizer Joseph Hermann Mohr. The real Composer of tune may be remain unknown!?! Add New Work form – Instruments

Hi Carlos, A few minutes ago I used the Add New Work form to create Sharon (James P. Carrell). Since it is an a cappella work, I entered that in the Instruments blank. But when I got to the page, there was an error message across the top, about a missing ) in a Multireplace.php program. The page was created correctly, except Instruments was blank. I tried inserting A cappella in the Instruments template, but it didn't work, I got the same message. I managed to get around it by typing '''Instruments:'''{{Acap}}, which gave the same result, it appears (the page was added to Category:A cappella). By the way, I looked at Template:Instruments and noticed that it was editable by me; it should be protected, right? (I did not edit it). Anyway, I thought you should know that this happened. Best to you — Barry Johnston (talk) 04:52, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

apostrophes in Category names?

Hi Carlos, I got an error message after creating St. Peter's Chains and for the moment have temporarily renamed it. Is there a workaround? Richard Mix (talk) 23:03, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Richard, what kind of error did you get? I could open the category normally and saw that there is a work already listed in it. —Carlos (talk) 20:00, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
I wasn't too clear: when I created St. Peter's Chains that page looked OK but Category:Sacred music by by season wouldn't load. I've forgotten the exact message but it said something about consulting a manual. Richard Mix (talk) 22:05, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
If you move back Chains of St. Peter or else put back the Cat:Sacred by season on St. Peter's Chains you may be able to see what I mean. I didn't want to leave it as it was with the whole Sacred music by season shut down. Richard Mix (talk) 01:36, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Richard, the problem lies inside the DPL code that was in the category header of Sacred music by season. For the moment I moved that code to ChoralWiki:Sacred music by season and will see what can be done to fix it. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 03:46, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

Bug in template PostedOn

Hi Carlos. I think your 'localizing' the month changes to PostedOn have resulted in an error. Today (October 26th), PostedOn lists my score A Hymn for St Cecilia (Charles H. Giffen), but the score was posted on September 26th, not October 26th. Here is the result of {{PostedOn|2018-10-26}} (which will probably only be valid for today (or perhaps until the end of the month?).

I'm hesitant to revert your changes, since I'm busy enough today that I won't have time to test any reversion. Could you check into the problem? Thanks. See you Sunday for the Board meeting!! -- Chucktalk Giffen 15:47, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi Chuck. You're right, the template tests for the day and the month separately, as far as I can remember. That could potentially give the results you cite, in that very specific situation. There's certainly room for improvement! I'll have a look at it as soon as I can, but feel free to make any corrections if you already envision a solution for it. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 17:23, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi again. I've implemented a new system that seems to be working correctly. Thanks for spotting the error! —Carlos (talk) 14:49, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Status 'incompleted'

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for catching Category:Requests Available at IMSLP! To answer this question, The Oratorio is available only in excerpts on CPDL, but complete at IMSLP. In decluttering Category:Requested, I've hesitated in some cases where it seems desirable to me to have the complete work available in the future, or where I myself might prefer a different format. Richard Mix (talk) 01:09, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Richard! I noticed that you've been doing a great work in sorting out the requests, way to go! Regarding the completeness of a request, I'm of the opinion that it's 'complete' whenever a page for that work is created on CPDL. If for any reason the editions available here do not cover the whole of the request and IMSLP has a complete edition, that could be informed at the works page, with a link under the "External links" section. This way we'll be helping anyone visiting the works page, not just someone eventually consulting the request page. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 01:24, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough as a traffic directing strategy; how would one have dealt with Request:Agnus Dei from Missa L'homme armé (Guillaume Dufay)? I guess I've used Template:IncompleteEdition before as a sort of request on my own behalf, but no one has ever taken the hint ;-) Richard Mix (talk) 01:49, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Does IMSLP have the complete work? If so, a link to it could be added at the works page. Additionally, a note can be added at the request page informing this. Anyway, three movements is already better than nothing :) (thanks for the new edition, BTW!) —Carlos (talk) 02:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Internet links within Template braces

Hi Carlos! I am working though a lot of work pages, and along the way trying to update '''External websites:''' <text> to {{ExtWeb|<text>}}. I find that I am unable to embed certain urls within the braces; neither can I embed thinks like {{IMSLP2|<IMSPL page>}}. I can't seem to find a character that would cause a problem, but I haven't yet checked all strings of characters. I have discovered that I can put the url within double brackets ([[<url>]]) as a workaround, but that seems like a lot of work, and looks strange. Examples at Ach Gott, wem soll ichs klagen (Wolfgang Grefinger) and Ala guerra, ala guerra (Bartolomeo Tromboncino). Do you have any suggestions?

Or maybe I should write code for Template:{{ExtWeb}} to take care of this situation? Thanks! — Barry Johnston (talk) 17:26, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi Barry! I'm still trying to figure out what's the advantage of using this new template. As I understood it, it just encapsulates the text that is passed as parameter (in this case, one or more links). But why should we abandon a template such as IMSLP2, for instance, in favor of ExtWeb, as was done here? Sorry for asking, maybe you're planning some kind of automation that I'm not aware of, and this is just the first step of the process.
Regarding the technical problem you cite, the solution is simple, although not very elegant: if a parameter contains an equal sign, it causes the MediaWiki to think that everything before the = is a named parameter. To avoid it, we have to add ourselves a numbered parameter, as I did here by adding |1=. The <nowiki /> part corrects another known MediaWiki bug related to the display of bulleted lists inside templates. Regards, —Carlos (talk) 02:40, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Ma bouche rit

Hi Carlos,

Just wanting to confirm that Ma bouche rit (Johannes Ockeghem) is a withdrawn edition, File:Ma bouche rit.pdf being a somewhat ambiguous filename which seems not to have been replaced. Cheers, Richard Mix (talk) 21:26, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Richard! I'm a bit puzzled by this situation... why did I delete the files and keep the edition unchanged? That's strange indeed. I found Benjamin Stone's withdrawal request at the forums: [1]. Maybe I was in a hurry at the moment and just plain forgot to return to this matter later. I just removed the links from the edition, thanks for bringing this to my attention. —Carlos (talk) 15:54, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

Missing form and uploads

Hi Carlos: I'm afraid that I have botched something somewhere, though maybe with the help of a technical glitch.

At once I received two error messages, first the old one which claims that <charles.david.cameron@gmail.com> isn't a valid address, adding this time that my name was wrong too; and then a message that the system had stalled, and might be available later. I copied this material and sent it to all of you admins, as you know.

Today I can't find anything from yesterday; no uploads, no incomplete Add Work Form, not even my report (I suspect that I'm looking in the wrong place). How much you admins. must shudder at the technical illiteracy of us computer users who don't understand anything under the hood--I'm sorry!

But I have no idea how to proceed now, and I do want to post the piece. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, David, thanks for your contributions! I suppose that you're known here under an email address at queensu.ca. Your two files are already present on our servers. Please fill the AddWork form as yesterday, using your previous address. (I haven't received any mail yesterday). By the way, you could spare a bit of my time uploading an MXL (compressed MusicXML) file in lieu of the .musx one, to allow users using MuseScore, Sibelius or Capella to use your file. Claude (talk) 16:43, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Hello guys, sorry for the belated reply. David, I see that you've managed to create a page for Blow, winds of God already, with Claude's gracious help. Way to go! —Carlos (talk) 19:54, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Brazilian sacred publications

Hi Carlos!

I have been trying to help User:Catuí Côrte-Real Suarez with three publications, including Harpa de Sião, Cecília, and Magnificat, coletânea de cantos litúrgicos. But I have run into some difficulty with a recently-created publication, Harpa de Sião: suplemento – I don't have access to early editions of this book, apparently very popular in Brasil. I feel like the two pages for Harpa de Sião should be one page, but I don't know how to combine them: the situation with all the editions is a mystery to me. Do you have suggestions? — Barry Johnston (talk) 16:43, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi Barry! A belated Happy New Year! :) I need to get acquainted with this subject first, will inform you about whatever I find, ok? Regards, —Carlos (talk) 16:35, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Carlos! And a belated Happy New Year to you. Sounds good, I will wait to see what you find. — Barry Johnston (talk) 18:50, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi again, Barry. From what I could see, the supplement could very well be on the same page of the main publication. Note that this was done at IMSLP: Harpa de Sião (Lehmann, Padre João Baptista). We could maybe create a new section and move the supplement under it, what do you think? I'm still in doubt if this supplement belongs to the 1st or 3rd edition, so I wrote Catuí asking for clarification. —Carlos (talk) 01:12, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi Barry, I talked with Catuí and he explained to me that the Supplement is an independent book; that was the reason why he put it on a separate page. But he wouldn't mind if the pages are eventually merged. —Carlos (talk) 00:12, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Pone luctum

Hello Mr Solims! Sorry that I can't be of any help to you on this, my knowledge on the subject is quite limited. Kind regards, —Carlos (talk) 01:34, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
