English text
The air is heavy with the breath of flowers,
And music floats around me like a dream;
I see the smile of beauty in her bowers,
And clustering lamps above me shine;
I hear the voice of merriment sweep by,
But wake no echoing murmur in my breast;
I know that light and happy hearts are nigh,
But feel mine own with heaviness oppressed!
