Categorization by source?

I just noticed this template. Clever to have works sorted by date, but how is it supposed to work together with publication titles, for example Benedicite! What dreamed I? (Robert Fayrfax) or Illumina oculos meos a 6 (Philippe de Monte)? Richard Mix (talk) 22:52, 27 May 2016 (UTC) Ps. I see now. Would it be feasible to categorize by publication title too, as I once tried with Trent codices?

Hi Richard, sorry! I just found this page, wasn't aware of your questions before. Regarding categorization by source, it's something that can be done with this template, but we'd have to change it to use somewhat more complex parameters. It would be extremely difficult to sort out what is plain text and what is a source name without resorting to parameters. —Carlos (talk) 23:07, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

A bug

There's a problem with text page titles that include a year: see Ahi come a un vago sol (Claudio Monteverdi) Richard Mix (talk) 23:31, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for reporting this. Indeed, this bug is hard to deal with, I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, is it possible to get rid of the year in the title? What about renaming that page to a more appropriate title like "Musica tolta da i madrigali ... e fatta spirituale (Aquilino Coppini)" or something in that line? —Carlos (talk) 23:13, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
Not having the forced line break of Template:Instruments makes this workaround easy enough in the meantime. Richard Mix (talk) 22:44, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi Richard. In September last year I added a second parameter that worked as a workaround for this bug, but I forgot to announce it here. I have just expanded the workaround with the addition of four new parameters. Please read the updated documentation for an explanation on how it works. Very neat! Richard Mix (talk) 23:12, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
