Communion service

I only have the two movements of the Communion Service in my library so I obviously won't be posting the rest. Anyone else that has them can post the whole service. -Douglas Walczak 14 February 2011.

The source is an octavo in a book of bound octavos I purchased on Ebay. It's "Musical Times No. 129" it includes Almighty and Everlasting God, plus the Kyrie and Sanctus. It seems to indicate that the pieces are as set by Gibbons himself, a footnote to the Sanctus even indicates the parallel 5ths in the S-T between measures 4&5 is original was not altered. If anyone should be able to show that these pieces are misattributed, I'll make the necessary changes. Doug 15. February 2011

A look at Tudor Church Music IV reveals that the "Communion Service" is identical with the "Short Service". In the discussion of sources is the following: "The Sanctus commonly attached to the short service has no MS. authority before the time of the Restoration. It is first found in the Windsor MSS in the handwritting of Dr Will. Child, as an extra slip bound up with the rest of the service. There are copies of it in short score in CH CH Ox MS 1225, Ely Cath. MS 23, and Tenbury, all of late 17th or early 18th century date. As it is for the most part merely an extract from the Te Deum and all the texts are faulty, the editors feel justified in rejecting it."
