Misattributed work

While the chanson Mon cœur se recommande à vous is unquestionably authenticated to di Lasso, the parody mass based on the chanson is thought to have been composed by either di Lasso, or Johannes Eccard. --Pml

Please provide a source or reference for this. I cannot find documentation other that various people saying it "probably" was by his student, Johannes Eccard. --Paul Marchesano 04:21, 3 July 2008 (PDT)

In the New Grove Dictionary of Music's entry for Lassus, under "Doubtful and misattributed works", one reads: "Mon coeur se recommende à vous, 5vv, MS 1579 (on Lassus's chanson) (? by J. Eccard), Hxi, 233."

In the same dictionary, the Eccard entry says: "Eccard, Johannes (b Mühlhausen, Thuringia, 1553; d Berlin, 1611). German composer. (...) From 1571 until the end of 1573 he sang in the Bavarian Hofkapelle in Munich; he was also a pupil of Lassus there. In 1577 and 1578 the composer was in the household of Jakob Fugger in Augsburg, and he dedicated to him his five-part mass Mon coeur se recommende à vous" (bold emphasis by me). --Carlos^Talk 17:01, 3 July 2008 (PDT)

Manuscript 52 in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Sammlung "Chorbücher und Handschriften in chorbuchartiger Notierung" (see here) has the following inscription on the title page: "Missa à 5 vocibus Super Mon caeur se recomante à vous. Authore Joanne Eccardo Mülhusino, D. Jacobi Fuggeri Musico, 1578" --Harald Poelchau 18 June 2012

Errata: Missing staves in Credo

Some staves seem to have been mistakenly hidden in the PDF version of the Credo in Mr. Marchesano's edition (#06853 & 06953).

Page 10, at "Et iterum venturus est..." Sop 2 should reenter at m. 107; bass should reenter at m. 110.

(I see the staves are visible in the Finale file).

One other erratum: Kyrie, m. 36, beat 4, bass: should G, not F. Couple of bits of underlay missing which are easily figured out.

This is a really terrific Mass. Very enjoyable to sing.

Errata: Incorrect rhythm in transposed edition

In William Evans's very useful transposition (#56207) there is an incorrect rhythm in the Sanctus, bar 16: the last three notes should be sixteenth-sixteenth-quarter, not three eighth notes. Andrewctenor (talk) 12:02, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
