Merge proposal. Original version is in German. Easier to track [if] versions and arrangements are in the same page. – Catuí Côrte-Real Suarez 13:43, 22 May 2023

Because both hymns are famous and well-known and often sung, I think both pages should exist (and both pages exist on Wikipedia). Obviously there should be prominent links on both to the other page. However, the German page should be Lasst uns erfreuen herzlich sehr (Friedrich Spee). Perhaps the Portuguese editions deserve their own page, too – but another possible outcome would to put all music files on the same page (the German one) with Redirect pages for the other languages. I don't recommend that, though, because each of the two traditions have considerable scholarship and editorial energy behind them, and that's hard to put on a single page. And there may well be scholarship for the Portuguese editions (or other languages) as well, either now or in the future.
Please notice that hundreds of Johann Sebastian Bach's chorales have the same questions and concerns, and many other hymns as well. The "one page for all" approach doesn't work in all cases, and neither does the "every language separate" approach. Proper categorization is also an important concern. — Barry Johnston (talk) 16:18, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
