Description: Words by John A. Granade, 1804, with seven or eight stanzas. This tune was revised by William Walker in his Southern Harmony, 1835, p. 166, for three parts; and reproduced in The Sacred Harp, p. 61, 1844 to the present. William Hauser revised it and added an Alto part in his Hesperian Harp, 1848; and Hauser's four-part tune was reprinted in William Walker's Christian Harmony, 1867. Hauser's Alto part was added to The Sacred Harp after 1911.
