Translation by Mick Swithinbank
Hush, sweet infant, go to sleep,
Let calm descend: no longer weep.
Child so tiny, cease your cries,
Hush, sweet infant, close your eyes.
Let rest restore you, Jesus sweet,
See us fall before your feet.

Why these tears, you little child?
Do you fear the wind so wild?
Or has some sorrow stricken you
Beyond our power to subdue?
Though now you lie in an ox's stall,
Yet you remain God of all.
