à l'homme riche, ici présent,
qui a mis son repos et sa confiance
en sa richesse, bien, or et argent.
Et à l'homme pauvre et indigent,
doux est ton nom et ta mémoire,
car par toi délivré du mal,
prétend venir à l'éternelle gloire.

Death, the very thought of you is bitter to a man who is prosperous, living peacefully with his wealth, possessions, gold and silver.
Yet to a poor man the thought of you is sweet, for you will deliver him from suffering in the hope of passing on to eternal glory.
