Edition notes: The keyboard accompaniment has

been omitted from this edition except for the small notes given here on the voice staves: if instruments are used to accompany the piece, these notes should be played. The order of parts is as given in the source. The Alto part is printed in the source in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch. The text of the first verse only is underlaid in the source, where the other two verses given here are printed after the music: these have been underlaid editorially.

Description: This setting was published on pp16-17 of Bennett Mintern Swaffield's Twenty Five Original Melodies, London: (1822). In that collection, a fully written out keyboard accompaniment is provided, which largely doubles the voice parts. Part allocations are identified in the first piece in the book as Soprano - Alto - Tenore - Basso - Organo.
