General Information

Title: Missa a 4 de quinto tono punto bajo
Composer: Luis Serra

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: SATB

Genre: SacredMass

Language: Latin
Instruments: a cappella
Published: Not known

Description: From the Música Colonial Archive. A four part mass. The words "punto bajo" and the low tessitura of the alto, tenor and bass parts suggest that it may have been transposed from an original version in a higher key, perhaps a major second higher, which would have been in C major. The manuscript indicates that the work is by "Maestro Serra". Musicologist Robert Stevenson attributes it to Luis Serra in Grove's dictionary.

External websites: copy of the manuscript, the original of which is in Guatemala Cathedral.
