Latin text
- Quasi cedrus exaltata sum in Libano,
- et quasi cypressus in monte Sion:
- quasi palma exaltata sum in Cades,
- et quasi plantatio rosae in Jericho,
- quasi oliva speciosa in campis,
- et quasi platanus exaltata sum juxta aquam in plateis.
- Sicut cinamomum, et balsamum aromatizans odorem dedi:
- quasi myrrha electa dedi sua vitatem odoris.
- In plenitudine sanctorum detentio mea.
English translation
- I have grown tall as a cedar on Lebanon,
- as a cypress on Mount Sion;
- I have grown tall as a palm in Kadesh,
- as the rose bushes of Jericho.
- As a fine olive in the plain,
- as a plane tree at the river side have I grown tall.
- I have yielded a perfume like cinnamon and
- sweet-smelling balsam in the streets.
- Thou art fair, my love, and there is no fault in thee.
