Komm, Heilger Geist, o Schöpfer du,
sprich den bedrängten Seelen zu:
erfüll mit Gnaden, süßer Gast,
das Herz, das du geschaffen hast.

Der du der Tröster bist genannt,
des allerhöchsten Gottes Pfand,
du Liebesglut, du Lebensbronn,
du Herzenslabung, Gnadensonn.

Du siebenfaches Gnadengut,
du Hand des Herrn, die Wunder tut;
du lösest aller Zungen Band,
gibst frei das Wort in alle Land.

Zünd unsern Sinnen an dein Licht,
erfüll uns mit der Liebe Pflicht,
stärk unser schwaches Fleisch und Blut
mit deiner Gottheit Kraft und Glut.

Den Feind aus unsrer Mitte treib,
mit deinem Frieden bei uns bleib,
führ’ uns auf deiner lichten Bahn,
wo uns kein Unheil schaden kann.

Lehr uns den Vater kennen wohl
und wie den Sohn man ehren soll;
im Glauben mache uns bekannt,
wie du von beiden bist gesandt.

Ehr sei dem Vater, unserm Herrn,
und seinem Sohn, dem Lebensstern,
dem Heilgen Geiste gleicherweis,
sei jetzt und ewig Lob und Preis.

1. Come, Holy Ghost, Creator, God,
Your children long to hear Your voice;
in grace refresh, O Guest most dear,
the soul You have created here.

2. The light of understanding grant
ignite in me the fire of love
and strengthen my weak flesh and blood
with Your strong spirit, heav'nly food.

3. We call You Comforter, O Lord,
the promise of the most high God,
the source of love, the well of life,
our hearts' sweet unguent, fount of grace.

4. O source of all the gifts of grace,
O Hand of God that wonders makes,
You free our tongues to speak Your praise
and freely give Your Word to save.

5. Drive far from us our enemy
and lead us in the path of peace that we,
led by Thy grace divine,
untouched by evil may remain.

6. Teach us the Father's will to know
and how to glorify the Son,
through faith make them to us be known,
as You from both of them did come.

7. Praise to the Father, Lord of all,
and to His Son, the Star of Life,
and to the Holy Spirit, too,
be now and ever glory giv'n.
