French text Iay veu le cerf du bois sallir et boire a la fontaine. Ie bois a ty mon bel amy et a ta souveraine. Si tu ne fais ainsi que my, tu pairas pinte plaine. Iay veu le cerf du bois sallir et boire' a la fontaine. Modern French J'ai vu le cerf sortir du bois et boire à la fontaine. Je bois à toi, mon bel ami et à ta souveraine. Si tu ne fais comme moi, tu paieras une pinte pleine. J'ai vu le cerf sortir du bois et boire à la fontaine.

English translation I have seen the deer come out of the woods and drink at the fountain. Here's to you, my dear friend and to you sovereign lady. If you don't join me in this toast, the beer will be on you! I have seen the deer come out of the woods and drink at the fountain.
