Description: The Cherubic Hymn is part of the Orthodox Divine Liturgy, the equivalent of the Western Mass. It is sung during the so-called "Great Entrance", whent the priest carries the gifts of bread and wine into the church from behind the iconostasis. The first stanzas are usually sung in a majestic, slow tempo. After the intercessions by the priest(s), the choir responds with "Amin" and takes the final verse at a much quicker pace.

Izhe, Heruvimy tayno obrazuyushe

I zhivotvoryayshey Troytse trisvyatuyu pesn pripevayushe,

fsyakoye nïnye zhityeyskoye otlozhim popyecheniye. Amin.

Yako da Tsarya fsyeh podïmyem

Angyelskimi mï nye vidimo dorinosima chinmi. Alliluya.

English translation

We, who mystically represent the Cherubim,

And chant the thrice-holy hymn to the Life-giving Trinity,

Let us set aside the cares of life. Amin.

That we may receive the King of all,

Who comes invisibly escorted by the Divine Hosts. Alliluya
