Als der hochherzige Petrus, der geschworen hatte,
an der Seite des teuren Herrn inmitten von tausend
Lanzen und tausend Schwertern zu sterben, gewahr wurde,
daß er, von Feigheit überwältigt, in großer Bedrängnis
im Glauben gefehlt hatte, verwundeten ihm Schmerz,
Scham und Bekümmernis über sein eigenes Versagen und
die Marter des anderen mit tausend Stichen die Brust.
