Description: The text is a compilation of verses from the Song of Solomon; the text shown here differs in a few words (Schütz used the old translation from 1545 ("Ausgabe letzter Hand"), here are the words from the "Lutherbibel 1912"); some words are probably wrong and give a wrong sense (v.1, 7: "... wo er weidet ..." instead of "... wo du weidest ..."; "... where he feedeth ..." instead of "... where thou feedest ..."), some words (as marked) do not occur in the Song of Solomon

Hohelied Salomo, vv. 5, 8-10

Song of Solomon, vv. 5, 8-10
8  I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.
9  What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?
10  My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.

Song of Solomon, v. 6, 1
1  Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? Whither is thy beloved turned aside? That we may seek him with thee.

Song of Solomon, v. 5, 6(2)
6(2)  I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

Song of Solomon, v. 1, 7
7  Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon:

Song of Solomon, v. 6, 2
2  My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

Not from Song of Solomon
Let us go and seek him,

Song of Solomon, v. 2, 17(1) or 4, 6(1)
17(1)  until the day break, and the shadows flee away.
