Life
Born: 7 September 1812, near Mansfield, Massachusetts
Died: 9 December 1877, Cincinnati, Ohio
Biography
George Nelson Allen studied under Lowell Mason in Boston, then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. He became professor of geology and music at Oberlin College in Ohio, where he published The Oberlin Social and Sabbath School Hymn Book in 1844.
