  • (Posted 2007-01-06)  CPDL #13357:        (Sibelius 2)
Editor: Jonathan Goodliffe (submitted 2007-01-06).   Score information: A4, 1 page, 40 kB   Copyright: CPDL
Edition notes: The original 8 staves are reduced to 4 as the tenor and bass voices sing exactly an octave below the soprano and alto voices. Bar lengths halved.

General Information

Title: Et incarnatus est
Composer: Francisco Valls

Number of voices: 8vv   Voicing: SSAATTBB
Genre: SacredCanon

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1742 in Mapa Armónico Práctico, no.
Description: In the original scores all 8 voices are set out on distinct staves. The AATT voices appear in one score and the SSBB voices in a further and separate score immediately underneath, so it may have been intended that the canon should be sung in either of those groups of voices as well as in 8 parts and, no doubt, in 4 voices SATB. "Trocado" indicates that the canon uses contrary motion.
