Title: Ecce vidimus eum
Composer: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina
Lyricist:

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: SATB
Genre: SacredMotetTenebrae responsory for Matins of Maundy Thursday

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1892 Opera omnia Ioannis Petraloysii Praenestini 33 Supl. III
Description: Haberl describes his fruitless search for old sources and traces this work (as well as In monte Oliveti (Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina) & Tristis est anima mea (Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina)) to a ms. owned by Caspar Aiblinger and dated 1764. The use of the 1632 texts seems to rule out Palestrina.

The usual da capo goes all the way through "Cujus livore sanati sumus."
