Description: This madrigal by Guarini was published in his "Rime" in 1639 as: Donò Licori a Batto.
The same lyrics were used bij Marenzio but now as Donò Cinzia a Damone.
Obviously the poem is applicable to any nymph and her shepherd.

Una Rosa, cred'io, di Paradiso,
E si vermiglia in viso
Donandola si fece e sì vezzosa,
Che parea Rosa che donasse Rosa.
All'hor disse il pastore,
Con un sospir d'amore,
Perché degno non sono
D'haver la Rosa donatrice in dono?
