Song of Solomon 2:16–3:1

Latin text Dilectus meus mihi, et ego illi, qui pascitur inter lilia donec adspiret dies et inclinentur umbrae. Revertere, similis esto dilecte mi capreae, hinnuloque cervorum super montes Bether. In lectulo meo per noctes quaesivi, quem diligit anima mea; quaesivi illum et non inveni.

English translation My beloved to me, and I to him who feedeth among the lilies, Till the day break, and the shadows retire. Return: be like, my beloved, to a roe, or to a young hart upon the mountains of Bether. In my bed by night I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and found him not.

German translation Mein Geliebter [gehört] mir und ich ihm, der zwischen Lilien weidet bis der Tag hinhaucht und sich die Schatten neigen. Kehr um, sei, mein Geliebter, dem Reh ähnlich und dem Jungtier der Hirsche auf den Betherbergen. In meinem Bettchen habe ich durch die Nächte gesucht, den meine Seele liebt; ich habe ihn gesucht und nicht gefunden.

Dutch translation Mijn liefste is van mij, en ik ben van hem die zijn kudde weidt lussen de lelies; ik ben van hem tot het dag wordt en de duisternis wijkt. Kom terug, mijn liefste, wees als een ree, of een hertenkalf op de bergen van Bether. ’s Nachts in bed heb ik hem gezocht, van wie ik zielsveel houd. Ik heb hem gezocht en niet gevonden.
