French text Comme la tourterelle languit jusque à la mort Ayant perdu sa belle compagnie et consort: Ainsi ne veult confort mon coeur plein de tristesse S'il n'arrive au doux port ou l'attend sa maitresse.

English translation Like as the turtle dove languishes until death After losing his fair companion and partner: So my heart, fllled with sadness, wishes for no comfort. If it cannot reach that sweet haven where its mistress may tend it.
