Come Fenice, che rinov’ al Sole
Così quest’ alm’ afflitta che v’adora
Muor’ e rinasce mille volte l’hora.
Come Farfalla, che s'abbrucia al lume,
Cosi son io d'intorno al tuo splendore:
Mentre io miro, dolcemente more.
L'esca s'abbrucia, e non dimostra il foco,
Cosi son io, se ben ch'abbruci o ogn'hora:
Ardo di dentro, e nol dimostro fora.
E di tal fiamma, ne riceve il core
Dolcezza si soave e si gradita,
Che mancherebb e con l'ardor la vita.
